Service reminder

This is a field checklist based on tube replacement notes. Follow OEM service documentation, radiation safety procedures, site policy, and local regulatory requirements.

Correct Calibration Order After Tube Change

Tube WarmupUse Step 2 only, 25–28 kV, 4–6 manual shots. Step 3 can be ignored.
Large Filament Calibration35 kV only. Complete before Gen kV or Gen mA.
Gen kV CalibrationRun after Large Filament is completed and applied.
Gen mA CalibrationRun after Gen kV.
Small Filament Calibration30 kV.
HVL / TOSmall focal spot first, then Rh, Ag, Al/Tomo, and licensed filters only.
Tube Head CheckLet it cool down if needed.
AEC StartDark Offsets, then Goaltab Gen, then Goaltab Scale.
01

1. Before Removing or Moving the Old Tube

GoalGet the new tube into the same physical position as the old tube.

If things get out of place

Put the new tube in the middle as best you can. Center it left-to-right and front-to-back.

02

2. New Tube Installation Details

Locking collar warning

The locking collar screw must not be directly on top of the tube. If it is on top, the top cover may not fit flush when reinstalled.

03

3. Tube Warmup

Important CalTool note

Use the CalTool version for that system. Do not use CalTool 2.2 unless that is the correct version for the unit.

Use Step 2 only

Use Step 2 to take manual shots in the 25–28 kV range.

Step 3 can be ignored.

Do not spend time on Step 3 for this process.

04

4. Large Filament Calibration – 35 kV

Do this before Gen kV or Gen mA

Large Filament Calibration reloads defaults to the generator node, which gives a better starting point for a new tube.

Do not perform the full 20–49 kV calibration.

For this workflow, perform the 35 kV large filament calibration only.

Possible normal error

Toward the end, CalTool may throw an error saying it reached the maximum number of exposures.

Do not forget

When the calibration completes, hit the Apply button.

05

5. Generator Calibrations

Sequence requirement

Only start these after Large Filament 35 kV is completed and applied.

06

6. Small Filament Calibration – 30 kV

07

7. HVL / TO Calibration

Read the CalTool words carefully

The first exposure it asks you to make is for the small focal spot. That reading goes into the box on the right, which is the mR reading.

Before Ag shots, change the filter in all 3 places

1. The form. 2. CalTool. 3. The Piranha.

Al filter / Tomo

The Al filter tomo shots are done on the next step after the Ag sequence.

Tomo mR warning

For tomo shots, if the mR goes over 1000, the meter may switch and display the value as R. You still need to enter it into the form as mR. Example: 1.3 R = 1300 mR.

HVL / TO Quick Reference

StepWhat To DoImportant Reminder
First ExposureSmall focal spot exposureEnter into the right-side mR box
RhDo the 22 kV Rh shot, then continue Rh sequenceComplete Rh before switching filters
AgSwitch to Ag and perform Ag shotsChange form, CalTool, and Piranha
Al / TomoPerform tomo shots on the next stepIf reading displays R, convert to mR
CuOnly perform if licensedSystem may not have a Cu license
08

8. Licensed Filters and Output Form

Complete all licensed filters.

The system may not have a Cu license. Do only the filters that are licensed for that system.

After all licensed filters are complete

Text a picture of the output form for review.

09

9. Tube Head Check / Cooldown

At this point, check your tube head.

You may want to let it cool down a bit before continuing.

10

10. AEC Calibration Start

AEC order

Start with Dark Offsets, then Goaltab Gen, then Goaltab Scale.

More to follow

Additional AEC steps may be required depending on the next instructions and system condition.
